Akomia.com belongs to Akomia Limited, a trade name registered in Tanzania. The operations department is based in Dar es Salaam, the capital city of Tanzania (East Africa). During the last five years, we have been offering tourism services to a large number of customers. Our first website was developed to serve tourists and travellers interested in the Tanzanian market. That's how we developed www.tanzaniaholidays.com . We have helped customers to book rooms and arranged tours packages. After 3 years in business, we have noticed that if we automate the ordering system, we may serve a larger number of clients, instantly and cost effectively. We thought that the whole offering we had on Tanzania Holidays could be not be automated at the same time. We decided to start by accommodation. We therefore launched the project. Having noticed that there is a move to market the whole East African region as one tourist destination, the management team found that it could helpful to associate all the East African suppliers to this project.

How did we get the name akomia.com? We stayed online for a couple hours looking for a name which would translate what we do. All the names related to accommodation were not available. We wanted the name to be short and easy to remember. That's how we got an idea that akomia.com could do the job.
